Hi, I’m Steve ( IG: @SteveCavemanTuff ). I’ve been on my journey for 7 years now, been through ups & downs, stressed out, feeling like all my time & energy spent on dieting & lifting weights where pointless because I wasn’t getting results “fast enough”…basically I wanted to quit…would’ve been the WORST mistake on this journey & possibly in my life. I found the strength to push through it all, from the self doubt & helplessness & took the option of quitting off the table. I started at 270lbs, & got as far down to 169lbs. Though I’ve come along way, I still have more work to do. If this little story will inspire just one of you to not give up, I’d feel like it was all worth it. Stay focused & motivated.
What motivated you to transform your body and your life?
My biggest motivation started with my son. I found myself feeling sluggish or would get tired to fast when we would horseplay. I wanted to be a role model for him, not only characteristically but physically as well. So I decided to take action & get my life back.
What workout routine has worked the best for you?
I started out lifting weights with a minimum of 30 minutes for cardio a day 4-5 days a week. I would train 1 or 2 muscles each workout (example: chest & shoulders same day), 4 different exercises per muscle 10-12 reps per set. Finishing off with at least 30 minutes of cardio on the elliptical (my preferred cardio machine).
What was the biggest challenge in your journey?
My biggest challenge was believing in what I was doing was going to pay off. I had weeks where I felt I worked harder than ever, was true to my diet & workout routine but would get little to no results, the scale wouldn’t budge. Those were the hardest times, it would discourage me.
What does your daily diet look like today?
What I eat on a daily basis is typically fruit for breakfast. Lunch & dinner would be grilled chicken, grilled fish or shrimp, ground turkey, rotisserie chicken & sliced turkey breast, those are my protein meats. I pair either of those with veggies. All kinds, avocado (my absolute favorite by the way), tomatoes, asparagus, avocado, broccoli, spinach…oh, did I mention AVOCADO (hahaha).
How has your life changed after your transformation?
I feel amazing! I feel anything is possible. I’ve grew to a very positive person, I’m always willing to help to the best of my ability. I’m more confident than I’ve ever been.
What is one thing you would say to someone struggling on the same path?
“You have to want this for you. The hero you’re looking for is staring right back at you every time you look in the mirror. This journey is long & hard so it won’t be easy…but will be soooo worth it” .
