Today we are really excited to introduce Simone Anderson to our readers. She has transformed herself in a way that many can only dream about. You can read her full interview below :-
What’s your story?
My story is difficult to condense down but I will do my best to keep it brief and to the point. On August 29th 2014, I made the decision to change my life and lifestyle once and for all. This is the day I discovered I weighed 169kg. I overhauled my diet completely and started to add in an hour of daily exercise. In the first 2 months I had lost nearly 20kg, this is when I started looking into weight loss surgery. On October 28th I underwent Gastric Sleeve Surgery where a large portion of my stomach was removed. After 11.5 months I had lost 84.5 kg which was over half my body weight. Since then I have lost further weight and now weight 77kg meaning I have lost a total of 92kg.
What motivated you to transform your body and your life?
My motivation was realizing what I weighed – that number terrified me. I officially weighed more than two fully gown men. It was always realizing that the line I always told myself “my weight never stops me from doing anything” was a total lie. I knew at 23 years old I couldn’t go on like this, I needed to get my health back!
What workout routine has worked the best for you?
For me I have found switching it up really works. Each week I do a huge mixture of exercises and sports. I play water polo, netball and basketball, I do gym classes such as Pump & Grit, I have a personal training session, I swim and also go for runs.
What was the biggest challenge in your journey?
The biggest challenge for me was at the beginning when I was still craving my old diet, trying to say no and have will power to those voices in my head was so hard. But after about 3 months those voices finally died down!
What does your daily diet look like today?
I have a protein shake for breakfast everyday, nuts or fruits for snacks, Vietnamese fresh spring rolls or an omelet for lunch and a meat and veg based dinner. If I get hungry after dinner I always start with a fruit tea and then have some frozen grapes.
How has your life changed after your transformation?
The main thing that has changed is my energy levels and despite doing 10 times more in a day I still have more energy than before. I’m not constantly thinking about food and my mind is now focused on my next workout not meal.
What is one thing you would say to someone struggling on the same path?
To believe in yourself you are capable of far more than you realize you just have to believe. Weight loss is a mental game, be kind to yourself and if you muck up don’t beat yourself up just get straight back at it. It’s a lifestyle change after all not a quick fix diet.
