We Welcome Tj Sadler from yegfitness.ca to share the wealth of knowledge that he and his team have generated over the years through their concentrated efforts to help their community get fit and stay healthy. Tj brings a fresh perspective to fitness; he believes in creating healthy lifestyles by encouraging people to change their mindsets versus making them believe they need to look a certain way in order to be fit.
What inspired you to start your Blog?
I wanted to have some local content for people living in Edmonton, Canada. Everything out there seemed to be international, and there was little information about how to stay fit in our community. We started out on social media and our blog posting articles to support local businesses which eventually evolved into a digital magazine at first and then a print magazine in 2016.
What makes you unique in the Fitness and Health Space?
We are local. We are all about creating healthy lifestyles rather than making people believe they have to look a certain way or have a specific body type.
What Diet/Nutrition practices do you advocate?
Healthy eating. Eat real food. If you crave a cheeseburger, eat it. Just don’t eat one every day and don’t eat five at one sitting. Eating healthy is achievable but takes a change in your mindset. It is easier to go through the drive-thru to get some fast food, or pop a pizza in the microwave, but eating healthy wholesome food can be just as easy. And it doesn’t have to be just chicken breasts and broccoli.
Mix up your workouts. Try an HIIT workout. Do some yoga. For ladies… Lift weights. Don’t do 45 min on the treadmill every day and consider that your workout. Do squats. Do deadlifts. Lift heavy things. You won’t get “man-like”.
